Abstract:

A method for the improvement of heterosis of elite crosses, developed by Dudley, was used toBrassica napus L. and was demonstrated to be effective in selecting the donor parent with favorable allelesnot present in the cross to be improved. The results showed that donor parents could provide better-parentcrosses with significant genetic gain. The breeding plans of the improvement of 8 crosses were raised and thebreeding strategy of new rapeseed hybrids cultivars in China was discussed.
