    Protein pesticide is a novel elicitor that causes defense responses in a wide range ot plants. Different protein elicitor was compared based on its origin and characteristic in this paper. It is also summarized gene clone, action mechanism, preparation and bioactivity of plant activate protein on plant defense response and growth enhancement. The industrial prospects and applications of plant activate protein are analyzed in future.

    The agro-antibiotic is produced by microorganism in secondary metabolism and used for controlling agricultural pest. The study on the agro-antibiotie  was probably begun from 1950 in China. The great achievement has being accomplished on study on the agrontibiotic, however, many problems are still existed on the development of agro-antibiotic in China. The situation and development of agro-antibiotic in China were discussed and some suggestions are given on the development of agro-antibiotic in future.

    Oligosaccharides are important elicitors that can induce resistance of plants against pathogens. In this review, we have summarized the kinds of oligosaccharides and the mechanism of plant induced resistance by oligosaccharides. Oligosaccharides could bind to the receptor on plasma membrane, and excite the burst out of active oxygen species (AOS) in plat cell, increase intrcellular NO and H2O2. oligosaccharides could induce expression of related resistance gene, increase activity of related resistance enzyme such as PAL, chitinase and β-1,3-glucanase. Oligosaccharides could induce the productionn of Phytoalexin.

    Viruses from several families may cause epizootics of insects in natron, they are key factors that adjust the density of insect populations. As there are several advantages for insect viruses as bioinsecticides, such as safe for human being and environment, no resistance for insect to virus, and control pest insects for long term, etc. , they are widely and deeply studied around tile world. Here we review recent progresses in the development of wild-type virus as insecticides, the development and bio-safety assessment of genetically modified baculoviruses and new techniques of application of insect viruses in China.

    Based on relic and literature, the historical changes and progress of rice cultivation technology were investigated in the rice area of south Henan Province before the founding of the PRC. According to variety utilization and cultivation reform, the historical changes of rice cultivation were divided into 4 developing stages after the founding of the PRC, and combed as 4 technological themes. In this paper, six technological subjects in rice cultivation technology in this region were put forward to meet modern rice production requirements.

In this paper, criteria screening nitrogen efficient of rice germplasms, differences of nitrogen efficiency between rice genotypes, inheritance of nitrogen efficiency and its correlation with agronomic traits were reviewed chiefly.     To solve the problems such as the redundant, overlapped, personnel scattered, vague aimed of public welfare and low efficient existing among the scientific research institutions for public welfare (SRIPW) in China, a reform launched in 2001 is expected to make two innovations: separate the business oriented sector from the SRIPW and turn the SRIPW pattern into the nonprofit organization (NPO) pattern. However, the reform practice shows it wouldn't be achieved in the short term. This paper analyses the transitional pattern " one institution two systems" which occurs in the reform process, evaluates the reform performance of SRIPW and points out the necessity to stabilize the "one institution two systems" and develop the quasi-NPO at present.
