    The paper reviewed the course of the enlighten and initiate stage (1926-1948) for the investigation of heterosis utilization in maize(Zea mays L.), and the development course of crosses between cultivar, double, three-way and single cross after the found of the Peoples Republic of China since 1949. The paper point out the distinguishing feature and obvious advantages of the development for hybrid maize investigation in our country. The success of some main force inbred lines that bred by integrated method and technology during this time will draw great inspiration effects from their experiences to future breeding. The improved hereditary traits, breeding objectives, breeding ideas for future breeding and the question of heterosis definition were discussed and prospected. It is demended in future breeding that raising the density-tolerant cultivar, single-plant heterosis under less density, no stress and resistance to bioltic and abioltic adverse circumstances in a mode rate degree, and some physiological characters of photosynthesis function etc.

    Based on the genectic theory of “multiple fertility genes cytoplasmic-nuclear interaction male sterility”, through systemic explorations and studies, a new male sterile cytoplasm called new cytoplasmic resource (CMS-FA) was discoverd and identified from a common wild rice, which is different from the types of CMS-WA and CMS-HL in the relationship of restoration and maintenance. A series of fine quality male sterile lines for CMS-FA hybrid rice have been developed and identified. JinnongⅡyou3, the first developed CMS-FA hybrid rice combination took part in Fujian province rice new cultivar regional trial for two years in 2007 and 2008. The average yield was 9.025% higher than that of the control and its rice quality reached third class indica rice quality standards. CMS-FA hybrid rice contributes to the genetic diversity of hybrid rice cytoplasms, the improvement of hybrid rice quality and yielding potential, and the unification of hybrid rice high yield and superior quality. It will add new strength to the innovation and development of hybrid rice.

    The paper gives an overview of the achievements in soybean breeding of Huajiang institute. Using plant type selection, Huajiang institute successfully give a solution of the contradiction between thriving & flourish and poor aeration & light transmissivity with the yield risen considerably. The contradiction among high oil, early maturity and high yield is solved, which fills a gap of planting high oil soybean in the cold area of northern Heilongjiang. The soybean varieties cultivated by Huajiang institute are the primary ones in northern Heilongjiang and Inner Mongolia, which were planted over 0.667 million hm2 every year. A detailed introduction of experience of soybean breeding is summarized.

    Taking the two japonica rice varieties Songliao 06-6 and Jiyu japonica as test materials, genetic characteristics such as ear size, number of grains, grain weight were studied. The materials were planted in their off-site multi-point normal cultivation conditions for three consecutive years 2006-2008. Results showed that:  the yield of the varieties and ear number, grain number, seed setting rate,  have reached significant levels, while ear length and kernel number per spike does not meet the significant level. It is initially defined that the high-yield of japonica rice varieties mainly due to good plant type, the ideal, tillering, paniclerate, grains per spike and seed setting rate, which provide reference value data for breeding high yield and stable yield japonica varieties.

    Nitrogen is a limiting factor for rice production. In order to confirm the effects of different nitrogen fertilizerapplication on rice yield, we take this experiment on midding fertility paddy fields. The results showed that restriction of nitrogen fertilizer amount on rice yield is 180 kg/hm2. Since the result is obtained from only one year on new rice variety Songliao 6, further research is required to find whether it is the best application amount of nitrogen, in order to reach a more reasonable conclusion,and increase the rice yield.

    Using new rice varieties as tested materials, based on the trail in all pilot sites, the high yield characteristics was compared and determined in different year and pilot sites by mathematical statistics and scientific analysis. Taking the average yield of all the tested varieties in the same pilot site as the environmental index, and taking the yield of all tested varieties as dependent variable, regression analysis was done to determine the stability of each of the tested varieties, thus not noly provide a scientific basis for promotion of new rice varieties in the production, but also has guiding significance for the future breeding of new rice varieties.

    It is extremely widespread about the research on microbial alkaline lipase and its application, but the rice seed alkaline lipase are poorly understood. The paper introduced a new plate examination method for estimating rice seed alkaline lipase activity. Using this method, rice seed materials with different alkaline lipase activity was screened, and used to study the function on alkaline lipase activity in an accelerated aging experiment. The result indicated that the method for eatimating alkaline lipase and its application in grain artificial aging are of great value to characters of grain storage.

    In order to explore the effect of immature embryo in vitro culture in reciprocal cross hybrid between commom wheat and cultivate barley, two ways of immature embryo rescue,  embryo culture and embryo-callus culture, were compared on their effects. The result showed that there were 28.71% embryos germinated, 13.04% embryos rescue succeeded, 28% transplant survived with embryo culture when common wheat Shi4185×cultvate barley W30 immature embryo in vitro cultured. There were 38.83% embryos germinated, 17.51% embryos rescue succeeded, 34.21% transplant survived with embryo culture when cultivate barley W30×common wheat Shi4185 immature embryo in vitro cultured. There were 16.67% frequency of callus induction,  88.41% transplant survived with embryo-callus culture when commom wheat Shi4185×cultvate barley W30 immature embryo in vitro cultured. There were 10.45% frequency of callus induction, 89.29% transplant survived with embryo-callus culture when cultvate barley W30×commom wheat Shi4185 immature embryo in vitro cultured. It was concluded that a large number of healthy regeneration plant was gained with embryo-callus culture. This is a ideal way of immature embryo in vitro culture in reciprocal cross hybrid between commom wheat and cultvate barley.

    Based on a wide range of germplasm collection, accumulation and organization research on maize inbred lines from 1957 to 2004, Wu 105 and Yuanwu 02 group were classified into the second category of ten populations of maize pedigree. Wu 105 was successfuliy applied in top-cross and double cross hybrids, three-way cross, early-maturing single cross hybrids, subsequently bred Shaanxi 1, Huangbai 1, Shaandan 7 and so on. Later,  Wu 105 gave rise to the Wu 109, Tian 4 and other improvement inbred lines, making up some major promotion hybrids such as Shandanhao, Hudanhao, etc.  Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences bred Yuanwu 02 by radiation treatment, then bred follow-up derived lines such as Yuanqihao, Luyuan 133, Luyuan 92, forming a new derivative branches, to be widely used in our country. The inbred lines derived from the follow-up  new and improved varieties occupied a large proportion in Jiangsu province, and also be applied in Jilin Tonghua and Fujian.  Wu 105 germplasm expansioned from west to east, from south to north, enriched maize germplasm gene pool of our country.

    Using PEG 6000 concentrations of 20%, 22%, 24%, 26% simulating drought stress,  germination rate for interspecific hybrids rapeseed of different resistance (tolerance) and drought was analizied in field experiments. To show the effects that PEG6000 simulate drought strees in selecting rape resistance (tolerance) materials. The results showed that 22%~24% PEG6000 and germination time for 4~8 d are suitable for handling rape seed in selecting resistance (tolerance) rapeseed. When the concentration of PEG6000 treatment in less than 22%, the germination index can be used as an essential indicator for reference.

    With the development of facilities protected field and the demand of market, the watermelon in greenhouse developed rapidly in recent years. Greenhouse watermelon intercropping sweet potato is a new simple agricultural technologies which could help farmers efficient increase the income. The regularly planting space of sweet potato is 25 cm. Subjected to the constraints of watermelon line space, the density of sweet potato is 26 250 plant/hm2. Low density would effect the yield benefits. Tests prove that when the planting space reduce to 17 cm, density of 37 500 plant/hm2 is more reasonable.

    The correlation between seed color and leaf color of 126 shares of red-seed cultivated adzuki bean germplasm resources was studied with the CIE L*a*b* color order system. The results showed that seed color was closely related with leaf color for the sort of secondary early-maturing and middle-maturing adzuki bean in Beijing area. Degree of correlation between seed color and leaf color was higher in the peak period of bearing pods than in other period. It would be of more possibility to obtain the materials of fine seed color by selecting seed color indirectly by leaf color, selecting the plants of dim brightness and light green leaf in peak period of bearing pods.

    Through comprehensive analysis on the production and modeling of four new sugarcane varieties including 07-15 by means of high stability coefficient and experimental statistics, the results showed that in the experimental test, the average production of new planting sugarcane Qianzhe 00-126, Guiyin 07-15, Guiyin 07-16 and Guiyin 07-04 increased by 48.15%, 31.16%, 26.67% and 24.74% compared with the control variety; the average production of ratoon sugarcane was higher than control by 32.36%,28.49%,34.56% and 7.35%, respectively. Yield increase showed a significant or a very significant difference between test and control. The average production in three production demonstration sites all presented the trend of high yields. The standard deviation and variance coefficient were very low, which indicated that the degree of variation of these four new breedings were very low with preferable adaptability.  The coefficient of stability is relatively high(96%<HSCi<134%). According to the facts and the statistics mentioned above, these four new breeding sugarcanes are featured by high productivity, stability, and adaptability, which could also be applied in large denomination below altitude 800 m.

    Yixiang 101, derived from the fine quality CMS line Yixiang 1A and the heavy-panicle restorer line Gonghui 101, was bred by Agricultural Science Research Institute of Zigong city. In Sichuan territorial experimentation during 2004-2005, the average yield of Yixiang 101 was 8 189.85 kg/hm2, higher than Shanyou 63 by 6.78%. In the pilot productiion test in Sichuan province in 2005, the average yield of Yixiang 101 was 7 836.3 kg/hm2, higher than Shanyou 63 by 7.88%. Yixiang 101, which has the characteristics of fine quality, high yield, stably high yielding ability, strong resistance to diseases and adverses, is suitable for widely planting in the southern area of China. Yixiang 101 was approved through the validation of Sichuan province in April, 2006.

    “Huajintian No. 1” was  a excellent sweet corn variety  examined by Guangdong province  in 2009  (Yue trial maize 2009011). Both the yield and quality were  exceeded the previous trial varieties “Huabaojin No. 1” and “Jinfeng No. 5” in our country. During two-years province trials, the yield were higher than the contract varieties at significant levels; in the production trials, the yield of all five-sites were higher  than the contract ones.  Yield of the  fresh bud were more than 1 000 kg/hm2; average yield reached 1 131.3 kg/hm2, which was  higher than that of contract one by 19.5% ; the maximum yield was 1 236 kg/hm2. “Huajintian No. 1” was a excellent variety with good agronomic characteristics, high yield, wide adaptability, strong disease resistance and strong lodging resistance, thick and long ear, sweet and juicy, better quality in terms. This variety was suitable for planting in Guangdong province and regions which were similar in climate and  planting conditions.

    New Soybean variety Suinong 25 was bred through sexual crossing by Suihua Institute of Heilongjiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences. It was approved by Heilongjiang Crop Varieties Release Commettee in Jan. 2007. It has many good charactors such as disease resistance, high yield, multi-nodes, pod thickening, good ventilation, light trarsmittance, barren resistance and drought resistance. The protein content is 38.92%, the fat content is 20.24%,  accumulative temperature demands 2 350℃ and its growing time is 116 days. In 2006, the average yield of productive yield test is 2 666.6 kg/hm2, increasing 16.1% compared with CK varieties hefeng 47. Its cultivatable areas ranges from the second ecological regions of Heilongjiang province, to most cultivatable area of Inner Mongolia autonomous region and Jilin province. Its suitable sowing time is the first ten days of May.Its most suitable cultivation density is 230 000 plants /hm2. Seed manure needs 260 kg /hm2 or so.

    The Andou No.5 was bred with the local wild beans varieties ZYD05689 and local resources ZDD15633 by Agricultural Science Research Institute of Anshun city. Andou No.5 was ranking the best in national spring soybean group testing of southwest during 2007-2008. The two-years average yield was 203.8 kg/hm2, which was 16.2% higher than the contrastive variety Dian 86-5. It also gained the best pilot production yield in 2008. Andou No.5 is a good variety with high yield, high-quality, early maturity, wide adaptability, strong field disease-resistance and well-behaves integrated traits, which is suitably grown for the areas of southwest mountainous in Guizhou province, Yunnan Red River and Zhaotong, Hubei Enshi and Sichuan Liangshan regions in China.
